There are a many situations that require Group messaging, for example, you might want to create 'Ski Trip' Group so you can quickly message only those students and parents concerned with then upcoming school ski trip. Other examples include things like 'School Band', 'Duke of Edinburgh', 'Girls U13 Netball', 'Functional Maths'.
How to create Groups
Select 'Groups' from the left-hand menu.
Select '+ Create a group'.
Enter the name you wish to call your Group. e.g., 'Ski Trip'.
Select 'Individual' and then type the names of the individual students you wish to add. Choose the students by clicking the tick-box next to their names and photo, then click 'Create this group'.
You can add classes to your Group. To select multiple classes, hold 'shift' + click.
You can add a year group to your Group. To select multiple year groups, hold 'shift' + click.
Sending messages to a single Group or multiple Groups
Select 'Messages' from the left-hand menu.
Select 'New message'.
Select 'Group message' and choose the Group you want to message from the drop-down list. To select multiple Groups, hold 'shift' + click.
Setting homework for a Group or multiple Groups
There may be a situation where a Group has been formed to look after a very select group of students, for example, SEN students. Milk allows you to set homework tasks for Groups by following this simple procedure:
Select 'Homework' from the left-hand menu.
Select 'Set homework'.
Select "Individual' and choose the Groups you want to set homework for from the drop-down list, e.g., 'Ski Trip'.
