For convenience sake, users can log into Milk using their Milk ID or an email address. We notice many of our student users have their parents' email address stored on their Milk profile. This is fine so long as the parents themselves are not expecting tot use the same email address to log in to Milk too.
No two users can have the same email address stored in Milk
Because email addresses can be used in lieu of a Milk ID, the system has no way of differentiating between two different users if they both use the same email address.
Examples of the problem:
When two parents - dad Rodger and mum Jane - try to store the same email address in Milk e.g., firstname.lastname@example.org
Only Rodger or Jane will be access Milk using this email address - not both!
When their child - Jessica Jones - try use her parents same email.
We always recommend that students use their school email address (if provided) for logging in to Milk.
Any email address is better than none, as it will allow users to reset their password 24/7 without contacting their school.
